12 MONTHS

  • Decide on the size of your wedding, and who your attendants will be.
  • Compile a budget and work out who pays for what.
  • Book a venue
  • Compile a guest list from both families
  • Choose an officiant
  • Decide on and book transport, florist, videographer and CAPE PHOTOGRAPHIC COMPANY

for your photographs

  • Start a 12-month skincare and beauty regime – get professional advice, otherwise

  • Make any necessary appointments with medical professionals, such as your dentist.

9 MONTHS      

  • Choose and consult a designer for your wedding dress.
  • Finalise guest list and invitations.
  • Finalise a tentative menu
  • Book groom’s attire if being hired.
  • Choose the Master of Ceremonies.
  • Book rental equipment, like red carpet, chairs, and so forth
  • Buy wedding rings or have them designed.
  • Who will make your cake?  Sample various cakes for ideas.
  • Arrange pre-marital counseling.
  • Plan honeymoon and details like passports.

2 – 3 MONTHS

  • Book a bridal registry at a retail store.
  • Make sure you have all the accessories for the various outfits.
  • Finalise and send out invitations.
  • Finalise menu and drinks.
  • Make sure that all the service providers are on track.
  • Have a list ready for  CAPE PHOTOGRAPHIC COMPANY off all the shots you would really love,

and book your pre- wedding shoot

  • Draw up legal marriage contracts

2 WEEKS – 1 MONTH

  • Arrange final fittings.
  • Finalise numbers for catering.
  • Select thank you gifts for the bridal party.
  • Have a trial run hair-do and make-up and photographic session.

1 DAY

  • Organise a cooler bag with drinks for the bride’s car.
  • Have a manicure and pedicure.
  • Go over the proceedings of the day with the M.C.
  • Put out and go through everything to make sure nothing is missing, from the outfits to items

Like emergency kits, sewing kits, contact lenses, tissues, and so on.  Use a checklist.
ON THE DAY

  • Eat a healthy and filling breakfast.
  • Make sure all the bride’s and attendant’s attire are laid out, to avoid missing pieces, including the bouquets.
  • Take a warm and relaxing bath.
  • Make sure that the rings are being held accordingly by the relevant person.
  • Make sure that any decorations on the cars are being taken care of.
  • Ensure the young attendants are being bathed and clothed.
  • Relax, weddings are always happy occasions, no matter how big the deviation from the original plan.
  • Make sure all the wedding cars have full petrol tanks:  you don’t want to stop at a service station.
  • Double-check that the rings are at the ceremony.
  • Take along a list of all the necessary telephone numbers.
  • Arrange transport for out of town guests.
  • Ask someone to keep your marriage certificate safe after the ceremony;  possibly one of the signing witnesses
