And what better (new) eyes than through the lens of a camera, playing with light, shutter speed, apertures, composition and of course - the incredibly layered and rich landscape of the Cape. All of this would not have been as edifying were it not for the excellent facilitation and expert guidance of Peter, who combines a love of photography, teaching passion and insight in a rather heady way. We have learnt so so much. Highly recommended for locals and visitors from afar alike.

Peter made it a wonderful learning experience for both of us even though my wife is not a serious photographer.
This is our first time visiting South Africa. My wife and I took a photography tour with Peter. He made it a wonderful learning experience for both of us even though my wife is not a serious photographer. We spent six days with Peter on a tour of the Garden Route. He took care of every little detail. Great accommodations and great restaurants! He is very knowledgeable about the historical and cultural backgrounds of the areas which made the touring very interesting and enjoyable. Peter is an experienced professional photographer. He has a wealth of information and tips that he generously shared with me. I learned so much from shooting sunrise/sunset landscapes to wildlife photography and portrait techniques. What strikes me is that Peter is so engaging and focused on my interests and needs. His service is top notched and two thumbs up. I would highly recommend him to anyone without any hesitation.

It was worth the best.
After the terrible experience with cape town traffic problems we had a great day with you. How you explain photographing and how you wait for the feedback of your customers and then give further information is incredibly good. I can't imagine how to do it better. I had a great day yesterday and it was much more than I would have expected.
I had a great day yesterday and it was much more than I would have expected. The day was fully packed with different experiences. Beside the wine tastings you have taken me to great spots within the region and it was so much fun - not work - to get taught photography by you. During this one day I learned more than I ever did when reading books about photography. I also appreciated very much what else you told me about monuments, history etc., therefore you are more than a "photographic guide". Thank you so much! I recommended you to the owner of the B&B where I stay, his friend is very keen in photography too, so he might contact you for a tour or a workshop. Now I'm curious to the see the outcome from the pictures I have taken on a big screen when I'll be home again. Today I continued to practice and drove to Franschhoek for taking pictures. I wish you and your family also a very Merry Christmas, all the best and good shootings for 2016.

I want to thank you Peter for the very useful and interesting photo course in Cape Town 3 weeks ago. I had an individual one-to-one photography tuition with Peter. I have been using a Point and Shoot camera for a while, but had a strong desire to understand and use the Manual settings on my camera. I also also wanted to improve my composition. He tailored the course to suit my individual needs. Perfect!!! I learned heaps and was finally able to take some good photo's with my Canon EOS 60D. I also gained confidence behind my camera.

Geez, it’s a week ago I was in Sutherland !! Thank you so much – it was an incredible experience, especially the cold. Thankfully I have no lasting effects from the cold – I think it toughened me up a bit ! I learnt some new things, plus had a lot of fun along the way. You go to a lot of effort to liven up the party – not just work work work I’ll definitely be on the lookout for future workshops

Alhoewel ons aanvanklik totaal uit ons diepte was, het ons dit ongelooflik geniet en baie geleer. A thoroughly enjoyable day.
I had a wonderful time! You are a very good tour guide in addition to your photography teaching skills. The session at Blouberg was so amazing. I could not believe the interesting photographs that resulted from using slow shutter speeds. You chose a good day for the flowers as well - thank you for the aircon! We had an amazing time with our guide Peter. He was very welcoming and knowledgeable. Although our tour started a bit late - which was due to Peter being held up in traffic due to the heavy rain in the morning - he made it up to us very much. He showed us some great locations and also helped us get the best out of our cameras with a photography masterclass. Many Thanks again to Peter and everyone. I certainly feel that I have benefited from the two-hour session, in that it provided me with a good overview of the basic functions of my camera, but also sound guidelines on photo composition. On Wednesday 4th February 2015 my husband and I took a private tour of the Cape Point Peninsula with Cape Point Tours. Peter was our guide and he picked us up promptly at our hotel Wednesday morning. He had great knowledge of the area and landscape and really let us decide on what we wanted to get out of the day so he tailored made the trip for us. We had some rain early on in the day so Peter was able to quickly recommend what we should do when and it worked out brilliantly. The success of this trip would not have been possible if we had to take our own car to do so. We got to see baboons right next to our vehicle as well as ostriches & penguins. Some of the most fantastic photos we have ever taken on holidays we got at Cape of Good Hope and the main reason for the success of the photos was Peter. He does photography tours and is passionate about photography so showed us how to get the very best out of our new camera which has made a great difference to our holiday in South Africa overall. His professionalism, patience & quick thinking ensured we had a great day and we would highly recommend using Cape Point Tours and hopefully your tour guide will be Peter :)

My wife & I were really pleased with the 2 full day tours with Peter. Prior to the 2 days we had sorted out via email really (for us) good itineraries that fitted our interests.

When we met we found he had a wealth of knowledge which he was very willing to share & I managed to get a much better understanding of my own camera & its attachments. What was particularly good came in many parts - first he knew where to go to get good photographs but most importantly for our interests. Second he listened and he adapted to what he heard (he found Sugarbirds & Sunbirds to photo) after a brief mention about sightings elsewhere. Third he was known in a number of places and this enhanced to the visits. But perhaps most important was he was good company & easy to get along with. Spot on time in front of the hotel in Capetown, Peter took us for a whale tour to Hermanus in his minivan. We were under the impression that we would "only" go on a whale tour, but we soon discovered that Peter had a lot more in his sleeve.

We were under the impression that we would "only" go on a whale tour, but we soon discovered that Peter had a lot more in his sleeve. In a whirlwind of information he introduced us to the history, geography, geology, and wildlife of south Africa. Stunned by all this information we had our first stop for a coffee, we have forgotten the name of the place, but still remember the very nice Billtong and Droeworst there. Apart from being a source of useful and very often humorous information he was also just a very nice man, which is rather important considering the effect that you spent a whole day together. As our eldest daughter Sophie is flying for Capetown early this morning to take part in a wedding next week in Stellenbosch we sincerely hope that she will have the time and the opportunity to make an excursion with this most knowledgeable, and above all, very nice, guide! We thank you once again Peter for our wonderful first day in South Africa and we hope you have a wonderful summer as we await a hopefully not too severe winter!! One of the reasons- and not the least- to go back to South Africa would be the opportunity to learn more about photography from Peter. Our own photographs pale into ignificance compared to his marvelous pictures of diving and playing whales!

Thanks so much for a wonderful days course on Sat I thoroughly enjoyed it especially photographing in Muizenberg and Strand area. I have learnt so much not only about my SLR but about what to look out for in order to get a great shot. Your crib notes are amazing and just explain everything so much simpler for a beginner like me. All these notes are going to be kept in my camera bag for quick reference. I loved the Paternoster weekend - everything was fabulous: � The coaching from Peter � always interesting and never too long or too complicated � Interesting and different locations to shoot photos � Forcing me to get up at 4am for the sunrise! � Trying something different � painting with light � The Mosselbank B&B � friendly and charming with delicious food The hubcap competition was also a great idea.

It is always priceless to tap your knowledge and experience � from technical aspects, through hardware to post production, many thanks for this! It is also great to have a trip like this combined with some technical shooting like we have done on the beach. When I'm back in Cape Town next time, a tour with you will be on top of my list.........
I made the right decision to book a tour with you and I'm so glad, you went out with me, although the weather wasn't that good.I learned so much and not only about photographie and how to use my camera in a better way.I had a lot of fun in Langa with the kids and in that shebeen and met so many nice and friendly people. The shipwreck part was quite a bit of a challenge but I had fun too. When I'm back in Germany, I'll do my gradings on tripadvisor and will highly decommend you. Think it's even worth booking you, if you are not that much interested in photographie, as you know so many great spots. When I'm back in Cape Town next time, a tour with you will be on top of my list and then I'd like to see the flowers. Once again thank you for a great day ( and the dragons liked it too)

I would recommend this workshop for anyone who maybe is a beginner or just completed a beginner theory course.
Yes, I did enjoy the workshop very much. I got some good shots, but it was more for me to learn new things and techniques. Here are the things I enjoyed; The location of the daily shoots and the accommodation. It was all in a close radius. The cheat sheets and discussions and going and doing it right away. The price was very good for the entire package. Peter is a good teacher. You didn�t through a bunch of jargon our way, but rather brought the explanations down to each individual�s level. Everything was done at a good pace and the group size was good. I would recommend this workshop for anyone who maybe is a beginner or just completed a beginner theory course. Thank you and hope to see you in the near future.

Your extensive knowledge and ability to teach and put it across was simply wonderful.

We have thoroughly enjoyed the Paint with Light workshop and had a great time. Peter is an awesome tutor!!!!!!!! I will recommend these workshops to anybody and looking forward to in future attend more.

It was extremely good preparation for the wedding I'll be shooting in a few months time and I feel 500% more well equipped and confident of taking on the task. The material you provided was very helpful and exceptionally well presented. I have done a lot of browsing on the internet to look at what I need to be thinking about, but your course served to pull it altogether into a neat package. I believe it will assist tremendously in presenting ideas to my clients and certainly help them in planning a better wedding. The actual shoot was fantastic. I learned a huge amount about the use of my new flash which I knew little about, being ready to take those unexpected shots, identifying a good location and posing the couple. I love the results of the off-camera flash techniques you taught me and can't wait to apply them in a variety of situations. I learned a lot about post production in a very short timeframe and suddenly feel that I'm ready to dip a little more deeply into Photoshop's treasure trove. You have broken the ice, which I am thankful for. I think the best thing about your workshops (wedding and township) is the personal coaching and attention that comes with it. You are a good problem solver, you give massive attention to detail and you have a lot of patience! It was good learning with you! I would like to thank you for the three days we spent together on the tours.
It's nearly one week now that we are back in Mauritius and also back to routine, though I am still on holidays. I would like to thank you for the three days we spent together on the tours. I have learnt a lot from you during these three days and I am sure that, as an amateur, my photography skills will improve - it has started improving. I enjoyed very much photographing the gulls at Strandfontein and the wall arts at Woodstock. Your long exposure coaching at Blouberg strand was very illuminating. Whatever you have been teaching me is being put into practice. Also thanks for altering my purist attitude towards post processing. I'll always bear in mind what you told me "photographs have been 'photoshopped' since the early days of photography". I have tried my hand at Lightroom with an underexposed photo and I am glad to say that I am have been conquered by its capabilities. I have also been successful in adjusting the horizon of a slanting picture. Veena and Gyanisha join me in thanking Janet for the hearty lunch she prepared for us for the picnic at Buffel Bay. Kevin

Baie baie dankie vir 'n heerlike dag
Wat my die meeste getref het is hoe opgewonde jy word om ons 4 bymekaar te roep as jy iets interessant gesien het om af te neem. Jy moes hierdie beginner kursus seker al 'n 100 keer oor en oor gedoen het, steeds doen jy dit met passie en was dit vir my heerlik om dit te kon beleef! As ek kommentaar moet lewer is dit net positief. Ek het gehou van die baie prakties. Ons leer en praat oor iets en daarna gaan oefen ons dit buite. Ek het gehou van die klein groepies en dat jy vir ons dit op so 'n gemaklike wyse aangebied het, ons het almal die vrymoedigheid gehad om vrae te kon vra en het verseker baie geleer. Jy het 'n manier om die teorie vas te le sonder dat ons dit weet. Jy gee ook goeie idees soos bv om jou kammera in te stel voor jy nog begin het - jy sal nie glo nie, ons het almal dit anders om gedoen, eers die onderwerp wou afneem en dan met die kammera gesukkel. Ek het besonder van die klein gadget goedjies gehou en tips soos bv die soft box etc - wil sommer op hierdie punt vir jou vra of ek asseblief die foto wat jy van my geneem het met die soft box voor die dramatiese agtergrond van die wolke mag kry? Sal dit baie waardeer. Hoop die paint met light werk het goed gegaan, ons woon definitief binnekort weer 'n kursus by!

I learnt a lot!
On Saturday I had the privilege of attending your macro/close-up photography course in Darling in the Western Cape. Despite the weather being a little uncooperative, the flowers came out and danced in the breeze, providing a perfect opportunity for you to explain shutter speeds! Your enthusiasm for your subject and ability to impart knowledge to us were excellent, and meant that I didn't mind at all lying front down in the mud, looking for the perfect macro flower. (OK, I did forget the poncho so kindly provided in the kit given to us!) I learnt a lot and despite the breeze have some very respectable macro images to show, met some people with similar interests and came home feeling really satisfied and enthused. Thank you, Peter.

Best possible expense of time and money!
I've just popped out of the bush and am back in Sweden. I can't thank you enough for the photo coaching session; you do an amazing job of explaining everything thoroughly and clearly. I did practice all of the aperture/ISO/Shutter speed settings, then we headed off into the bush. The photos I got were head and shoulders above previous trips, and more importantly, I felt as if I was in control of (most of!) the shots. We return to Cape Town often, and I look forward to more Cape Photographic Company experiences. Best possible expense of time and money!

Baie, baie dankie vir die kursus wat jy op Paternoster aangebied het. Ek het baie geleer en begin nou darem 'n idee te ontwikkel van wat dit beteken om 'n goeie foto te neem.
Jy het vir ons goeie notas gegee. Gedrukte notas in verband met die aperture en shutter speed sal baie help. Ek dink die meeste beginners sukkel om die interaksie tussen die twee te verstaan en te implimenteer. Ek het in die tussentyd ook vergeet hoe om my kamera te stel om 'n makro-foto met die 300 mm lens te neem! Help, asb!! Nogmaals baie dankie vir die kursus. Die indiwiduele aandag wat jy aan elkeen van ons gegee het, het baie gehelp. 'm Mens het nooit gevoel dat jy 'n nuisance is om maar weer te vra nie. Mooi bly en voorspoed met jou werk.

Thank you for an amazing course! This is the second time I attended one of Peter's courses. Again it was worth every penny! I really cannot think of one improvement to make, all was great. Die tyd het net te vining verby gegaan. Wat baie opvallend was en wat ek baie waardeer het is dat jy onder andere kort, kort genoem het op watter f stop die foto geneem is en waar die model geplaas was om van natuurlike lig gebruik te maak. Ek was nog nooit in �n township nie en jou besigheidskaartjie som dit perfek op met �if you want to take more interesting photographs, get your camera to more interesting places �
